This course describes the processes and commands required to remove tasks, users, and batch jobs from a z/OS system.


Senior computer operators and technical support personnel whose role is to manage system activity.


Successful completion of the z/OS – Identifying z/OS System Problems course, or equivalent knowledge.


After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  • Use the CANCEL Command to Terminate Jobs, Started Tasks, and TSO Sessions
  • End Hung Catalog Requests in an Orderly Way
  • Recognize When and How the FORCE Command is Used
